I finally got the vinyl decals for the living room and the girls room. The girls room will be in a separate post once we've moved Rylee in there completely. This is over the archway in our living room. I absolutely love it! Minus getting some pictures in the new frames in the living room, I would say our makeover is complete!

9/21/11: 99% Complete!
Our living room that is! The painting is done, the frames are hung, and the mantle is set. Everything just needs some fine tuning such as pictures in all the frames and cleaning up the mantle but all in all I'm feeling accomplished. I shouldn't really say me as Paul did most if not all of the work but I was the mastermind of ideas as usual.
Next - the dining room!

8/15/11: The start of a redesign
The demolition process of our living room has begun. Paint is happening, new decorations are happening, and new pictures are happening. Back last December I won a blog giveaway and got a free 16x20 from CanvasonDemand. It finally came in and this was the result. While it probably won't stay on the mantle, it's still one of my favorite pictures. Stay tuned for the final product!

5/26/11: New Carpet - Yay!!
OMG - I couldn't take it anymore! Our living carpet was a hot hot mess. I had been putting off replacing it as I mentioned it back in April (http://stoicoiu365.blogspot.com/2011/04/42611-extreme-living-room-makeover.html) Yesterday the new carpet was finally installed. I could not be happier. It's so much softer and a lot more forgiving of stains and messes than the old carpet. It makes the whole room just feel cozier and inviting. The kids love it, Hubby loves it, I love it! Win-Win for everyone!

4/26/11: Extreme Living Room Makeover
Our living room needs a makeover badly. It's not going to be that extreme but it's time for new carpet. Since we decided to get the new carpet we figured if we are going to paint it at some point we might as well do it before the new carpet comes. Our carpet has been through 2 puppies, 2 children, 3 cats, and a Canale. I speak of my friend Ryan who does not miss an opportunity to spill something at any gathering. He doesn't discriminate either, he does it everywhere. Beware.
Our carpet is not that forgiving either, seeing as it's cream. It's also not very soft. Doesn't make it very inviting to kids or adults. We needed/wanted something soft, multicolored (because hey we all know we still have kids, and pets, and a Canale) and cheap. When we carpeted our basement downstairs we got great carpet from the back wall at Lowe's. We decided to venture back there and managed to find some for our living room. It is the sample you see above.
Our biggest dilemma now is paint. I definitely want some color in the room. Right now it's all painter's white. We have grey couches with plum/fuchsia and black accents. The end tables and TV stand are both black. We've pretty much decided that the majority of the walls will be painted a beige color and that we would really like an accent color wall behind our main couch. I wanted to make it something brighter and then adorn the wall with black picture frames and some vinyl designs. I really thought I wanted to do the plum/fuschia. I bought a sample of this:
While I like it in theory it seems to have more of a pink undertone on the wall. I think we still may go with it only because I'm tired of trying to decide. That's a horrible way to make a decision I know but I'm really over it. Anyone have any ideas? I need help. I need it fast.

1/2/11: Oh Christmas Tree..
You might think this is a picture of our wedding photo and well, you'd be right. That's not what I was going for here. Look up a bit, above the picture. See that ledge? See how empty it looks? We spent our 1st Christmas in this house in 2006. That year we decided to put little 4 ft Christmas trees on that ledge. We had 3 in the living room and 3 in the dining room. We had every intention of taking them down after Christmas. We never did. They stayed up all year. 2007 came and we swore this was the year we'd bring in the ladder and get them down. We didn't. 2008 came, then 2009, and now 2010. Those trees were up on our ledge for FOUR years people. This year Paul decided to take them down. We have to bring in the ladder to take apart our 12 ft tree anyway so he did it. This is the aftermath..it's just nothing. It feels empty and I actually think I liked them there all year.
