7/6/11: Happy (belated) Birthday Henri!

Alright so Henri doesn't even have an actual birthday.  Okay, she does but I don't know when it actually is. I just made up that her birthday is July 4.  Since the past few days were busy I did not get around to taking her picture until today. I would guess she is around 7-8 years old but who the hell knows.

Henri has an interesting story about how she became a part of our family.  I first noticed Henri hanging around our condo during July 2006.  She was extremely skinny and her tail was shaved.  It was raining out so I tried to get her in our garage to get some food. She came in and ate it and then took off and I didn't see her again for a couple weeks.  One day when I came home from work, there she was.  I brought her out so food and she stayed a while so I could pet her.  She started sleeping in the bush by our front door and coming out every day when I got home from work for food.  She was so friendly and cuddly.  At first I thought she was a boy, hence Henri (y).  I really wanted to take her in but Paul and I decided that wouldn't be a great idea to take in a brand new cat (we already had Stu and his brother Leo) right before we left on our honeymoon.  We decided if she was still there when we returned, we'd get her to the vet and take her in.  Sure enough she was there when we returned!

So I took her to the vet, got her checked out and got all her shots and brought her home.  The other two cats did well with her and we were all set to take her to our new home.  One morning while getting ready for work (hair in curlers and all), I went to get the mail and the door was hanging open a bit and she darted out.  There was no way I was letting her go then after paying all that money at the vet.  Here I was 6:30 AM running around my neighborhood in curlers chasing this damn cat.  Somehow I actually caught her in someone's backyard, thank goodness.  I'm sure my neighbors thought I was crazy.

Now Henri mostly minds to herself in the basement.  She is no cuddly bundle of cat anymore, unless she wants to be.  Everything is on her terms.  She is the true definition of a Cat Diva.

Happy Birthday Henri!!!!
