Tribe Time: Wildcard Edition!

Finally, for the first time in quite a few years, the Tribe is competitive and in the playoffs again!  Those of you that know me know that I am a die-hard Tribe fan.  As soon as playoff tickets went on sale I snatched them up.  This was before they went on a huge win streak to end the season and before everyone else wanted the tickets.  We bought 8 tickets to the wildcard game and 8 tickets to Game 1 of the ALDS.  I'll tell you what, if the Indians would have made it the World Series, I would have been there 38-39 weeks pregnant and all!

We decided to take the kids since this was the first time in any of their lives the Tribe had made the playoffs.  Corey, my mom and dad were the other 3 that accompanied us.  Yes, you read that last sentence right, my father aka Debbie Downer of the Tribe agreed to go to the game with us. When we got there it was packed just trying to get in! The last time the Tribe was in the playoffs was 2007 and Paul and I attended every home playoff game.  I will never forget that season and electricity at every game.  I was really hoping this game would be the same.  Once we got in I was not disappointed.  Everyone was pumped and on their feet for most of the first few innings.  Things obviously went a little downhill from there but it was so nice to see the Tribe back at the top this season.  We can't wait for the 2014 season!!!

9/25/11: Final Home Game

I can't say I'm honestly disappointed in the Tribe this year.  If you told me they would end up somewhere close/at/or above .500 back in March, I would have been thrilled. In typical Cleveland fashion though they did get me a little excited and then let me down. Now that I'm back down from the clouds I'm remembering my thoughts that this probably wasn't the year they would contend.  They definitely kept my interest late into the season though and while it didn't end as I would have liked, I enjoyed this season.

We took the girls to the game today in place of our rainout from August.  Today was the last home game and was also kids fun day.  Morgan and Rylee got cool baseball little backpacks and got a chance to run the bases after the game and meet Paul Sorrento and Chad Ogea.  Mommy was a bit excited too since she had never actually been on the field before.

The game itself seemed, well long.  It went to 10 innings in which we ended up losing. Boo.  The miserable part was that it was hotter than hell and we were in direct sun.  This did not make Morgan and Rylee too happy.  All in all we had a great time and are looking forward to next season!  See you Opening Day Tribe Fans!!!

8/26/11: Thome is my Homie

This man?  He's back folks and wearing the good ole Tribe uniform again.  This may rival the day 4 years ago when the Indians so graciously gifted me (for my birthday) with the return of Kenny Lofton.  Maybe I'm jaded at this point but I welcome the return of Jim Thome with open arms. It's become the Indians MO to lose the big time guys at the end of the day because the Dolans are too cheap to pay anyone or sign them to a long term contract.  I digress.  Good ole Jimbo makes me nostalgic for the days of the 90s and keeps my glimmer of hope alive that maybe, just maybe the Tribe still has some magic in them this season.  If not, at least my daughters got to see him in Tribe gear one more time just like I did so many years ago.

On a side note for this day, I'd like to apologize to any of Morgan's future teachers.  A few days ago my dear husband Paul said "horsecrap" which of course Morgan repeated.  My parents, myself and the girls had gone to the Parade of Homes in Green tonight and on the way home disaster struck. My mother a former teacher encouraged Morgan to tell my father the former teacher that it was horsecrap that he couldn't lock Rylee's door.  If she ever repeats this in your classroom, you only have Kathy Graham to blame.

8/14/11: Kids Fun Day

Today we had tickets for the Tribe game.  This would be the first time the girls had gone all year and Rylee's first time ever outside of utero. It also happened to be Kids Fun Day so we headed up early to let them run around and play before the game.

On our walk to the stadium we stopped and checked out The Avengers movie set.  I didn't see anyone of the celebrity nature but the movie set did look pretty cool.

First we headed over to the section between the Jake and the Q and let the girls play around there for a little bit before we headed inside.

Later inside, we stopped at the TeamShop and each of the girls picked something out and I got the cutest little Tribe sleeper for Tenley.

The girls headed over the play area and played in there for a little bit before we headed to get something to eat.  After we ate we headed to our seats which were front row in right center field.  Awesome seats.  Morgan and Rylee were so excited screaming and clapping pretty much non-stop.  Then it started raining, then pouring during the 3rd inning.  I was so bummed because we had such great seats and I was excited for the girls to get to run the bases afterwards.  Plus they were having so much fun already! We hung around for a little bit, but soon realized the game wasn't happening and headed home.  I still think the girls had a great time and we got to exchange our tickets for another game, so we will give it another try soon!

Go Tribe!

5/6/11: Baseball Season = Sunflower Seeds

Who doesn't love sunflower seeds? The only downsides are how thirsty I get, how many I consume at one time, and the mess of shells I have when I'm done. I know technically I can buy sunflower seeds all year but some thing just go better with baseball.  For instance, sunflower seeds, hot dogs, beer. Not that I stop drinking beer or eating hot dogs during the winter but nothing screams baseball like a ballpark dog and an $8 beer. Unless you're getting Your Dad's Beer and in that case I think it's something like $4.50 a can.  What a steal!  You know come to think of it, do they even sell seeds in the stadium? I don't know that I've ever seen them.  Perhaps I'm totally blanking. Well if they don't sell them, they should. The End.
