Paul (and probably everyone else) would say I over do it. I like to think I'm efficient and creative and the best party planner EVER. Rylee and Morgan's birthdays aren't until May and June but after Christmas I go into full planning mode. I've been thinking about the general theme for each girl for a while now. Morgan is getting to the age where she has a say in what happens at her party. Which makes things a tad bit simpler for me. Rylee is at an age where the party is well, mostly for me.
Morgan has decided her party will be Shrek themed. I've already started the guest list and what decorations I will create and what her invite will look like. I won't have as much time for her party since Rylee's party will be less than a month earlier and in between parties we will be on vacation in the OBX (Yay!) I'm cautiously planning around Shrek knowing that it could change to Dora or Mickey Mouse at any time. I'm optimistic though because I've never watched Shrek more in my lifetime than I have in the last 6 months. When you can repeat every line from every movie in the Shrek series...that's a problem.
Rylee's party I knew would probably have the colors Red, White, and Blue being that her party would be over Memorial Day weekend. I decided to incorporate a circus/carnival theme into that. I'm excited to talk to my fabulous cake maker/decorator Becky Klein about what we (okay she, I really only provide some ideas) can come up with.
I know not every one goes this nuts for their kids birthday parties and some might think I'm a bit nuts. I love birthdays. I love my own. I celebrate the whole month. I once had a Super Sweet 26. True story. I will never stop celebrating my birthday in a big way. It's one special day out of the year. I want my kids to love their birthdays as much as I love mine and as much as I love planning theirs. I don't care if I'm crazy.
